AMD Zen 5 CPUs now have an official release date window

AMD Zen 5 is now officially available. The company’s future generation chips are expected to arrive within two years. The red team includes its Best gaming CPU contender in a brand new roadmap, alongside the Zen 3+ and Zen 4 lineups.

The AMD Ze 5 roadmap was revealed during the company’s Financial Analyst Day 20022. It doesn’t include the potential release date, specifications, or benchmarks. Rumours have suggested that Zen 4’s 5nm nodes could be replaced by the TSMC 3nm process.

AMD shared roadmaps for future Strix Point APUs and desktop “Granite Ridge” CPUs. All of these are expected to be released between now and 2024. The release graphic confirms that Zen 4 Threadripper chips will soon be available, as well as updated Zen 3+ laptop CPUs.

Although Zen 5 sounds intriguing, AMD Zen 4 is a better choice. CEO Lisa Su said that we will hear more about it in the coming months. One modder shared photos of delidded images that look like Fallout4 junk, indicating that the next-gen processor is already in enthusiast hands.

It’s difficult to predict when Zen 5 CPUs might be available as the gaming PC giant has not yet provided any concrete release dates. Its potential ETA should mean it will arrive in time to allow Zen 4 to compete with Intel Meteor Lake. This processor is expected to be released “reluctantly”, in 2023.
